If you like adventure stories then you will like "City of Light, City of Dark." A battle of Good vs Evil. The story takes place on the island of Manhattan, New York. On the island of the Kurbs (people who own the island), lives an evil, evil man, Mr. Underton. Mr. Underton seeks a token that controls the city. It is up to Sarah and Carlos (two close friends) to find the token and return it to the Kurbs. Sarah and Carlos have 6 months or else the city will freeze. Will the city stay light or go dark?
What I liked about "City of Light, City of Dark," is that it was fast-paced and there was not one minute that it was boring.
What I didn't like about the book is that it was set up in comic book form.
I recommend this book of you are interested in adventures, or if you like like a book that is fast-paced; because I like books that keep you going and that you can't put down. It is so moving and exciting.
Also, Sarah and Carlos show their mission could not have been accomplished without teamwork.
This would be a good book to read for kids ages 10 and up because it is written in comic book form and it is an easy book to read.
If you like "City of Light, City of Dark," I recommend "Crispin" by Avi because it is also a Newberry Award Winner and it is the best-selling book that Avi has written. (February, 2005)
