Title: My Guardian Angel
Author: Sylvie Weil
Publisher: Arthur A. Levigne books
Number of pages: 202

In My Guardian Angel written by Sylvie Weil, Elvina, the Jewish preteen girl, learns to deal with things most people are scared of. There are bandits and diseases, but even when she is scared she does what she thinks is right. Elvina heals people from pain and sickness with superstition. She makes potions and does spells to heal people. This story is set in mediaeval France. The author makes Elvina a great main character. The author describes how she feels and what she thinks. I felt like Elvina was writing in a diary and was telling what she thought.

I really thought this was a great book for kids who are interested in historical fiction. The twists and turns make you want to keep reading. I have never read a book quite like My Guardian Angel. I would recommend this book for kids in 4th or 5th grade. This 202-page book is an awesome book. (February, 2005)
