Horizons - Poems as Far as the Eye Can See Title: Horizons - Poems as Far as the Eye Can See
Author: Jane Yolen
Illustrator: (Photographs) Jason Stemple
Publisher: Wordsong/Boyds Mill Press
Number of pages: 32

Horizons is a book about places around the world that have been photographed by Jason Stemple, who is a freelance photographer and also happens to be the son of Jane Yolen, the author. This book is a collection of her poems and his photographs. The photographs in this book show you the beautiful horizons that take place in deserts, swamps, mountains, vistas, and other scenic places all over the world. There are many photographs that are from our home state of Colorado. The poems tell about each of the photographs.

When I first opened this book I was so excited and was in awe of the photographs. They made me feel as though I was actually there, on the horizon of each page.

I was not used to the poems though, because they didn't rhyme. I find it more enjoyable when a poem rhymes.

I don't think I would recommend this book to children under 13, because they may not understand the poems. I think older kids might like it best.

If you like this book, there are other books that this mother and son team have written, they are Wild Wings, Color Me a Rhyme, Once Upon Ice, Water Music, and Snow, Snow. (September, 2002)
