Have you ever wanted to be a princess? Is being a princess your dream?
Well, I can tell I thought it would be pretty magnificent to be one. After
I read, Jahanara, Princess of Princesses by Kathryn Lasky,
I changed my mind. This novel is the diary of Jahanara the princess of
India. Her father Aba becomes emperor and after that, her life is never
the same. In her diary Jahanara writes about her ups and downs and her
right and wrongs. She also writes about her family.
What I liked about this book was that it taught me about a new culture that I never really heard anything about.
What I didnt like about the book was that all the names and all the places were difficult to pronounce. I did learn what they meant though!
This book is hard to understand at most parts, but I would recommend this book to good readers 11 and up. Why? Well, this book has tons of information on each page that you must remember or you dont get the rest of the book.
I have never read any of the other novels in the Royal Diaries series, but a friend of mine has and he said they are fascinating!
In conclusion Jahanara, Princess of Princesses by Kathryn Lasky was a wonderful book. I enjoyed it very much. (November, 2002)
