Apr. 7, 2010: Water Towers
The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. Activities:
1. Use newspaper pictures and words to make a poster that shows the different ways we use water.
2. Look at the weather map in the newspaper. Circle areas where there will be clouds in red. Circle areas where there will be rain or snow in blue.
3. Interview several friends. Ask them how they save water. Then ask them if they know where there is a water tower.
4. How are these things important to water towers: (a) filters, (b) remote cameras, (c) pumps, and (d) vacuums?
5. Use the Internet to find at least three different ways people purify water. Write a paragraph about your findings.
