Feb. 17, 2010: Playing With Math
The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. Activities:
1. Divide a paper into two halves. On one side, paste odd numbers from the newspaper. On the other, paste even numbers.
2. Pick a newspaper page. Have a friend pick another page. Count the number of words in the headlines on each page. Who has the most words?
3. Circle 10 newspaper numbers that are less than 100 in red; circle 10 that are more than 100 in blue.
4. Race with a friend to find multiples of 4 in the weather report in the newspaper.
5. Find all the different ways numbers are used on one newspaper page (such as price, size, score, date, etc.).
