Activities:
1. Draw a large plate on a piece of paper. Paste newspaper photos of healthy foods on your plate.
2. Make a "Take Care of Yourself" poster. Show things people with diabetes do to stay healthy.
3. Find toys and sports items in the newspaper that would keep you active and make a list. Put stars by your favorite three.
4. How are these important for people who have diabetes: (a) blood glucose meter, (b) pump, (c) shots, and (d) insulin pen?
5. Use the Internet to learn about famous people who have diabetes. How do these people manage their lives? How do they help other people with diabetes?
Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them. This week's standard:
- Identify common health problems of children. (Health Promotion and Disease Prevention)
