Apr. 27, 2011: Pioneers of Flight
The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. Activities:
1. Draw a picnic basket. Use newspaper words/pictures of items to put in it for Charles Lindbergh.
2. Circle flying and space travel words in the newspaper.
3. Make a list of the Lindberghs' good qualities. Find someone in the newspaper who has the same qualities.
4. What famous aviator(s) (a) flew trials for the military in 1908, (b) was the first African-American to get a pilot's license, (c) was the first female aviation celebrity, and (d) was the first to fly nonstop across the Atlantic?
5. What "first" would you like to accomplish when you're grown? Write about it.
