Feb. 16, 2011: Unlocking Mr. Lincoln

The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. Activities:

1. Make an Abraham Lincoln book. Paste a newspaper word or picture about Lincoln on each page. Write a sentence for each word/picture.

2. Circle an example of each of these people in the newspaper: a lawyer, a state legislator, a U.S. congressman, a U.S. senator.

3. In the newspaper, find five modern jobs Abraham Lincoln could do < jobs that require intelligence and/or strength.

4. What events in Lincoln¹s life showed that he was (a) intelligent, (b) caring, (c) hard-working, and (d) determined?

5. Write a letter to Abraham Lincoln telling him how the country has changed since he was president.
