Activities:
1. Draw a large heart on a piece of paper. Paste newspaper words and pictures of things that are good for your heart on your drawing.
2. Ask several family members and friends what they do to stay healthy. Make a list and put a star by the foods/activities that are good for the heart.
3. Use foods in the newspaper to design a heart-healthy meal for yourself.
4. How do these items relate to the heart: (a) nicotine, (b) arteries, (c) calories, and (d) chambers?
5. Design a one-week heart-healthy plan for yourself. List what you should eat each day. Write down the exercise or activities you will do.
Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them. This week's standard:
-
