Activities:
1. Use newspaper pictures to make a calendar cover with a theme, such as sports or entertainment.
2. Pick five special weeks or months from the calendar. Now find a newspaper story that goes with each week/month.
3. Find a person, activity, and food in the newspaper that should have its own calendar day. Explain why.
4. Find an event you can celebrate (a) inside, (b) outside, (c) alone, and (d) with friends.
5. Select a special day/week/month from The Mini Page. Use the Internet to plan a trip to celebrate your special time. Where would you go? What would you do? How would you involve other people?
Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them. This week's standard:
- Students understand people and events honored in commemorative holidays. (History)
