The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. This issue of The Mini Page is available through the eEdition Archive to registered eEdition subscribers. Activities:

1. Draw a flag on a piece of paper. Paste newspaper words that describe people who serve in the military around your flag.

2. In the newspaper, find the places in your community where there is a Memorial Day event. Put a star by the event you¹d like to attend.

3. Design a full-page newspaper ad honoring people who have served in the military.

4. Why are these important to Arlington: (a) Robert E. Lee, (b) the number 21, (c) flags-in, and (d) slaves?

5. Make a list of reasons why we should honor people in the military. Use your list to write a poem honoring people who serve our country.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them. This week's standard:

  • Students understand people and events honored in commemorative holidays. (History)
